Another jolly finger post

Welcome, dear readers, to another episode of “Trying to Mutilate Yourself in Six Easy Steps” with Melantrys.

Step 1: Pick a tree that sneakily started to grow on its own behind the lilac. Better yet, pick two.

Step 2: Fetch a spade and start to dig.

Step 3: Dig closer to the trunk by hacking at tree roots with the spade.

Step 4: Forget you are working close to a fence.

Step 5: Hit fence post with a finger in mid-hack. For good measure, don’t just hit the post, but scrape along it as well.

Step 6: Sink to knees while pressing your hand to your chest.

Is this my finger joint?

Actually, I don’t want this to be my finger, ‘k?

Actually, the whole of the photo is way more horrid than the cutout I posted above (Update 2009/07/10)

It’s a shame, really, that the colour isn’t coming out so well in the photos. In real life the joint is a truly interesting shade of blue.

Update (2009/07/04):

Went to my regular doc yesterday, and he was happy I’d already had x-rays done to rule out a break cos from the looks of my finger he’d have suspected one.

Here’s a pic of my finger today. Add a bit of blue in your mind; the cam’s still eating some of the colour.

I think it’s fascinating how the blood is wandering off into various directions (lower finger joint: purple; upper segment of finger and knuckle: blue to purple to green)….:

Look at the pretty colours!!!

    Ouch!

er…it wasn’t the same finger, was it?

    Ice. Definitely needs ice.

Bwahaahaaa. Just came over to tell you you were starring in my blog…^^

  3. Melantrys Says:

@ Lynnette: No, but it’s the same hand, so I suppose the ring finger of that hand will be starring in the next bizarre accident… :shifty:

@ the extremely nasty Kitten: :P

    Poor thing!

I had a lot of hand accidents lately, from knife cuts to closing the drawer on my hand :|

one scar as bugging me because the skin lost it’s details and looks so smooth. I keep convincing myself that people envy me for my cute hands and it has nothing to do with being careless :D

  5. PH Says:

Poor thing :( how’s it now is it any better ? has the swollenness reduced ?

  6. David Says:

Didn’t I recommend protective gloves the last time this happened?

Ah well, I got a big splinter in my finger today. I don’t wear my gloves as often as I should either. ;)

  7. Brab Says:

Maybe i will become a hand model.

  8. Melantrys Says:

@ Attawie: Girl, be careful; you need your hands!

I like the way you blame your clumsiness on other ppl’s envy though, maybe I should try that as well….

@ PH: The swelling went down, yeah (see update), but the colours have become even prettier.

@ David: Well, I suppose gloves would only have prevented me skinning part of my finger, not the worst bit, which was definitely the bruise.

    Aw, poor splinter-fingered you!

    @ Brab: Ohhhhhhhkay?

  9. Lynnette in Minnesota Says:

Amazing how the blood just sloshes around in there, isn’t it? :P

I am glad to hear it wasn’t broken. :)

Only thing broken on melly is her heart!
